Dried Celtic Seasalt, Fine 400g
DRIED CELTIC SEASALT Fine
Stand-up Pouch 400 grams
Fine (sun-dried) Celtic Sea Salt sourced from the Guérande region, France. This region is well known for its salt marshes that extend over more than 2,000 hectares.
Celtic Sea Salt is a 100% natural sea salt that is manually extracted using traditional methods and is particularly rich in minerals and trace elements, giving it a special and complex flavor. Celtic Sea Salt contains at least 72 minerals.
Of all the salts, Celtic Sea Salt has the lowest sodium chloride content, making it the mildest and “friendliest” sea salt in the world. The over two thousand year old Celtic salt extraction process is responsible for this.

The only salt that the body can really digest, absorb and use properly is unrefined natural sea salt or rock salt. Common table salt often contains only Sodium Chloride and added iodine. It does taste salty, but adds very little to our health. In fact; sodium increases our blood pressure. However, our bodies do need salt. Not table salt, which is refined (processed), but unprocessed natural salt. And not just to improve taste, but more importantly to promote health.
Unrefined natural sea salt is rich in minerals and trace elements and, in fact, has a very special composition that makes it perfectly match the composition of our body fluids, such as blood and cellular fluids.
INGEDIENTS
100% Natural sea salt with no additives.
MANUAL EXTRACTION PROCESS
Celtic Sea Salt is manually extracted according to a traditional, ancient Celtic method that is more than 2,000 years old in the Guérande region of Brittany, France. Water from the cold sea current of the Atlantic Ocean is channelled through an ingenious system of channels into shallow clay marshes. The acid clay in these marshes neutralizes to some extent the highly alkaline sea water.
Celtic Sea Salt with a sodium chloride content of about 90 percent is one of the most low sodium sea salts in the world, this allows it more room for other minerals and trace elements, both from the clay soils on land and those from the sea. The Sea Salt mixes with the clay minerals giving it a gray color, Celtic Sea Salt is also described as “Sel Gris” in France.
The sea water is passed through channels from one shallow marsh to another, with the marshes acting as a kind of natural purification method as microbes in the clay neutralize impurities in the sea water. This process takes about two weeks. Tests show that the salt is 100% free of contaminants due to this purification method.
The salt water is then collected in a basin where the water is evaporated by the sun so that only the salt crystals remain, the salt miner then manually scoops up the salt. The salt is neither washed nor refined (processed), leaving the mineral balance completely intact. After harvesting, the salt is left for about six months to dry naturally.
USAGE
- Celtic Sea Salt or Sel Gris can be used in the kitchen to cook potatoes, pasta or rice or as a flavoring for dishes or as a marinade for fish dishes, a piece of meat or poultry.
- Another culinary application of sea salt is pickling food in salt to make it more preservable. A well-known recipe in Guérande, the region where Celtic sea salt is extracted, is to marinate fish in Celtic sea salt and fry them in it.
- Celtic Sea Salt is also used as a supplementary mineral complex for both humans and animals, for example as an addition to food or in drinking water.
Storage instructions: Keep tightly closed in a cool, dry place. Salt will not expire if stored properly.
